How to check the charge of an 18650 battery?

Some chargers are able to show the battery charge. But it is not always clear and precise. We propose to use the universal method. For this, you will need a multimeter:

You need to set the voltage measurement mode with two signs after the point (20 V), connect the multimeter to the battery terminals. It doesn’t matter if the multimeter will show a positive or negative value, it is the voltage value (numbers) that matters:

For a charged battery, the voltage should be 3.9-4.3V

For a discharged battery, the voltage will be less than 3.4V

If the battery voltage is less than 2.5V, then the battery is in deep discharge mode, and it is better to replace it.
With this method, you can measure the voltage without removing the batteries from the battery boxes (or batteries that cannot be removed), by simply applying the probes to the connector:
